#115 Three Near Death Experiences; One Abundant Life with Robert Kopecky

Robert Kopecky escaped a traumatic childhood growing up on the edge of San Diego, California, and went on to travel extensively, living a variety of lives as a ski bum, a factory welder, a monumental sculpture fabricator, an underground cartoonist; and finally, as an award-winning Manhattan illustrator, art director, and animation designer for clients like the New York Times, Cartoon Network, and PBS Kids (he’s recently re-designed Sesame Street for traditional animation).

His global journeys—from the remote South Pacific and the Mayan underworld to the media centers of Manhattan, were punctuated by three very different, dramatic "Near- Death Experiences" that eventually led him to years of study, meditation, and service, and the transpersonal realization of a Life beyond that inspired him to write about the spiritual lessons he’d learned the hard way.

When the spiritual essays he posted on his design blog became more popular than the designs, he was “called” to write his first book, How to Survive Life (and Death), 2014 Conari Press, which sent him into the world of “Near-Death” experience as a speaker, teacher, and contributing writer featured on Gaia.com, The Mindful Word, Inner self, BeliefNet, and more. His latest book: How to Get to Heaven (Without Really Dying), Wisdom From a Near Death Survivor, released in 2018 by Llewellyn Books, is a comprehensive guide to experiencing “heaven” in this life.

Robert has been a featured speaker for the 2016, 2018, and 2021 International Association for Near-Death Studies “Explore the Extraordinary” conferences, the Edgar Cayce Association for Research and Enlightenment, the Wisdom of the Near-Death Experience Symposium, the 2018 Afterlife Awareness Conference; and spoken for numerous IANDS Chapters around the country. He has appeared on PBS/WTTW Chicago, and guested on more than seventy radio and television interviews. His multiple Near-Death experiences give him a unique perspective on the phenomena of “the afterlife,” as well as on the life we currently live.

He regularly posts on his popular spiritual blog at RobertKopecky.blogspot.com, and links to his appearances can be found on his site: www.RobertKopecky.com. He and his wife, Sue Pike "The Animal Talker," make their home in Palm Springs, California. He’s presently at work on his third book, The Zen of Near Death.

In today’s beautiful episode with Robert, he shares with us the talk he have at the most recent IAND’s conference. Robert shares with us some of the great challenges he has faced in his life and the spiritual lessons he has learned along the way that has led him to living a full, abundant life.
